Tammy Miller is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She earned both a BSW (Bachelor of Social Work) and a MSW (Master of Social Work) degree from North Carolina State University. With over 15 years of experience working with a diverse group of individuals, she helps her clients with emotional, mental, and spiritual concerns that prevent them from leading fulfilling lives. She treats older adolescents through geriatric adults offering counseling that is both nonjudgmental and compassionate.
Operating from a strengths-based perspective her specialty areas include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, grief and loss, divorce recovery, parenting concerns, communication difficulties, anger and stress management, as well as PTSD/trauma. She enjoys helping couples with relationship concerns, pre-marital counseling, emotional and sexual intimacy. She offers Christian counseling and career counseling upon request.
During her previous employment in human services organizations in both Johnston and Wake counties, she developed a broad-based knowledge of community resources and human services providers. As a community college counselor she has assisted students with work/school stressors, academic underachievement and career planning. She also created and supervised a peer- to- peer support group. She has served as an adjunct instructor emphasizing interpersonal skills, academic success, career exploration, and methods to increase motivation.
Tammy is both trained in EMDR to treat trauma and in the Gottman Method that includes a thorough assessment of the couple relationship and integrates research-based interventions.
